When a vehicle is booked in at Gearbox select a systematic procedure is followed to ensure that the best quality standards are met with each and every vehicle that is booked in at our workshop.
Diagnostic Test – All automatic vehicles (with diagnostic test sockets equipped) are run through a full gearbox diagnostic test with our specialised diagnostic tools to note any electronic fault codes that are present on the vehicle and all codes are noted by one of our technicians.
Visual inspection – A visual inspection is performed to assess any obvious damage to the vehicle such as oil leaks and any broken mounting components
Stripping and assessment – Once we have been given consent from the customer our workshop team will proceed to remove the suspected faulty component for further inspection, this often involves stripping the entire gearbox down and machine cutting the torque converter open for a detailed inspection
Parts Sourcing and quotation – once the workshop has compiled a full report of faults on the vehicle the sales and admin team will proceed to source all the parts required for the rebuild, which is followed by a quotation/job estimate which is sent to the customer
Deposit – Once the quotation has been accepted by the customer we require a 50% deposit before proceeding with the repair
Rebuild and fit – Once we have received all the new parts needed for the rebuild our technicians will proceed with the assembly of the gearbox and then the completed gearbox will be handed to the workshop team for fitment
Testing – Once the gearbox has been fitted one of our technicians will take the vehicle through a series of tests and electronic adaptations to ensure that the gearbox is functional
Final checks – Once the technicians are finished with the testing procedure the workshop team will do a final inspection on the vehicle to ensure there are no oil leaks or irregularities on the gearbox. The vehicle is then washed by a member of the workshop team and the customer is contacted by a member of the sales and admin team to arrange the collection.
