Automatic reconditioning/ Remanufacturing vs Gearbox Repairs
We can offer our clients 2 options to fix their automatic gearbox faults depending on the clients budget and the extent of the damage on the gearbox
1. Reconditioning or remanufacturing – This is our recommended method which entails repairing all faulty components and replacing all other wearing parts and common failure components such as Gaskets and seals, clutches, pistons and electronic solenoids. This method comes with a 1 year warranty on the gearbox.
2. Repairing– This is where only the faulty components are replaced. This method comes with a 6 month warranty (only on the parts that have been replaced).
Types of Automatic Gearboxes
Conventional Automatic Gearbox
CVT Gearbox – Continuous variable transmission
DSG and DCT (Powershift) Gearboxes – Dual clutch transmissions (found mainly with VW/audi/Ford and Volvo)
Choice of oil
The choice of oil in an automatic gearbox is vital to ensure the maximum longevity of the gearbox. It is always recommended to follow the manufacturer's recommendations with the selection of oil that is put in the gearbox.
